a considerable amount of the expertise which makes a port operation a success can be retained for future use of the same and other ships provided the know-how obtained on the first visit is written down. Immediately after a departure from a port, the following people particularly are required to make complete write-ups on the port and forward to Supercargo or Ship's Rep for filing in the port folder. They are Supercargo or Ship's Rep, Chief Engineer, Transport I/C and Communicator, Purser, Dir Supply, Dir Accounts, Chief Steward, 1st Mate, Captain/ Conning Officer, MO, FPO, Hostess, PRO. Anyone else having information on the port should submit a report also. Information contained in these reports should be tabulated and very briefly stated, but should contain every piece of information of note. Examples: price list of chandler, addresses, pilotage dangers, techniques for handling specific terminals. (FO 2068)
