an agency which specializes in matching up employees to employers for a fee. Data is collected on each person applying for a type of job and matched up to data from employers needing personnel, in order to choose the person for the job. Often an employment agency will advertise jobs available and may run a service of providing temporary staff to employers needing to fill a job for a few days or weeks only.
