Definitions

unlimited liability means that a person's assets beyond what he has invested in a business are subject to the legal claims of creditors. Thus in the case of a sole proprietorship the owner is not limited in his liability to his creditors. His personal and private ownings outside of the business are legally subject to the claims of the creditors of his business.
