Definitions
the sporadic manufacture of a product in separate batches as opposed to continuous production of the same product. This could occur where the same plant facilities are being used to make a variety of similar products such as different colors of paint and/or where the market demand will only accept a limited amount of one variety of a product but tends to exert a continuous demand for the product in a variety of forms, colors, styles, etc. The clothing industry uses batch production largely.
