world famous insurance firm founded in 1688 at Lloyd's Coffee House in London, specializing originally in marine insurance but now operating extensively in all insurance fields except life insurance. Lloyd's organizational structure is comprised of an association of some 1500 brokers and underwriters throughout the world. As well, they published Lloyd's Register giving vital data about many of the seagoing vessels of the world.
