1. any part or extension of an organization or company that handles one aspect of the business such as the financial branch, personnel branch, sales branch, etc.

2. a local office of a company that has headquarters elsewhere; branch office. Example: a brewing company could have branches in several major cities. Each one would be capable of handling all aspects of production, sales and distribution that the company is overall engaged in.
