1. noun, something that seems to be, that appears to be a certain way; something appears to be but is different from the way it looks. It is from the Latin, apparere, to appear. In Dianetics and Scientology it is used to mean something that looks one way but is, in actual fact, something else. "Gives an apparency of health" whereas it's actually sick. (LRH Def. Notes)
