this is the [[STATE|state]] of [[CASE|case]] [[SCALE|scale]]. All levels given are major levels. Minor levels exist between them. [[LEVEL|Level]] (1), no [[TRACK|track]]—no [[CHARGE|charge]]. Level (1) is of [[COURSE|course]] an O.T. ([[HCOB|HCOB]] 8 [[JUN|Jun]] 63) Level (2), full visible [[TIME_TRACK|time track]]—some charge. Level (2) is the clearest [[CLEAR|clear]] anybody ever heard of. (HCOB 8 Jun 63) Level (3), sporadic visibility of track—some heavily charged areas. Level (3) can [[RUN|run]] engrams. (HCOB 8 Jun 63) Level (4), invisible track (black or [[INVISIBLE_FIELD|invisible field]]), very heavily charged areas exist. Level (4) can run early track engrams if the running is skilled. Level (4) includes the Black V case. (HCOB 8 Jun 63) Level (5), [[DUB-IN|dub-in]]—some areas of track so heavily charged pc is below [[CONSCIOUSNESS|consciousness]] in them. Level (5) has to be run on general [[ARC|ARC]] processes. (HCOB 8 Jun 63) He has an [[UNCERTAINTY|uncertainty]] about everything. He has to figure about everything; he has to know before he goes, and he has to hide but he knows he can't hide, and he depends on [[LOGIC|logic]] to serve for all of his predictions because he can't look. ([[PAB|PAB]] 2) This guy can't [[CONFRONT|confront]] it to the degree that if he tries to confront it he makes a [[PICTURE|picture]] of it. He's got a picture of a picture. (SH [[SPEC|Spec]] 2751 6306C18) Level (6), dub-in of dub-in. Many areas of track so heavily charged, the dub-in is submerged. Level (6) has to be run carefully on [[SPECIAL|special]] ARC processes with lots of [[HAVINGNESS|havingness]]. (HCOB 8 Jun 63) A (6) is [[NEUROTIC|neurotic]]. He's unable to easily [[RECALL|recall]] the things in the next to the last [[LIST|list]] of [[SELF|Self]] [[ANALYSIS|Analysis]]; something really real, a [[TIME|time]] he was really in [[COMMUNICATION|communication]], and so forth. (5304M07) There's nothing that distinguishes the (6) from the [[DUB-IN_CASE|dub-in case]] except the degree of franticness which the case goes into, and the amount of [[DELUSION|delusion]] which can turn on. What characterizes this case is the terrible [[AUTOMATICITY|automaticity]] of the [[BANK|bank]]. (SH Spec 274, 6306C13) Level (7), only [[AWARE|aware]] of [[OWN|own]] evaluations —track too heavily charged to be viewed at all. Level (7) responds to the [[CCHS|CCHs]]. (HCOB 8 Jun 63) Level (8), unaware—pc dull, often in a coma. Level (8) responds only to [[REACH_AND_WITHDRAW|reach and withdraw]] CCHs. (HCOB 8 Jun 63) In [[ACTUALITY|actuality]] on some portion of every time track in every case you will find each of the levels except (1) momentarily expressed. The above scale is devoted to chronic [[CASE_LEVEL|case level]] and is useful in [[PROGRAMMING|programming]] a case. Now, what makes these levels of case? It is entirely charge. The more heavily charged the case, the lower it falls on the above scale. It is charge that prevents the pc from [[CONFRONTING|confronting]] the time track and submerges the time track from view.
