Definitions

1. a type of ship's "newspaper" containing an item from the Commodore, the daily schedule for that day, news and notices, as well as orders necessary to administration of the ship's business. A copy of the OODs is delivered every morning to each in -basket on the ship. It should be read each day carefully so that you keep informed of what is going on around the ship and in the various divisions. (FO 2674)

2. orders of the day, issued by any Commanding Officer to his own unit daily and may contain current activities, ethics orders, etc., by others, contains the schedule of the day, serves as a crew briefing. OODs are also put out to their own orgs by Executive Directors or Executive Councils in Scientology orgs. (HCO PL 24 Sept 70R)

3. the purpose of the OODs is to keep staff informed of executive intention; org expansion and progress, org condition and ethics. The form of the OODs is black on white mimeo (or type written and displayed on staff notice board in small orgs). (BPL 30 Sept 69)

4. it is dated for the day for which the schedule applies. It is numbered and given the ship's name. Into it are placed all assignments of conditions, schedules, copies of plans, uniforms, etc. It is posted as soon as it is completed. It is on legal length paper, white. It is on one side of the paper only. Every item is followed by the date such as 14/2/68. (FO 441)
